The Georgia Bulldogs are dealing with several injuries on the defensive side of the ball this spring. Projected starters in safety Malaki Starks, defensive end Tryion Ingram-Dawkins and inside linebacker Smael Mondon are all out this spring.
Georgia football will play in its annual spring scrimmage on April 13 at 1:00 p.m. ET in Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs’ spring game will be televised on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.
Georgia’s pass defense will be under the microscope in the spring game. The Dawgs’ offense tends to play pass heavy on G-Day and there’s no reason to think why 2024 would be any different. Let’s take a look at Georgia’s defensive depth chart and what it has looked like throughout spring practice. We are putting injured players on the depth chart.

- Nazir Stackhouse
- Jamaal Jarrett
Nazir Stackhouse ’s return boosts Georgia’s defensive line depth as a whole. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound defensive tackle is a run-stopping force that recorded 24 tackles and two sacks last year. Jamaal Jarrett, who has excellent size and recorded six tackles in 2023, is Georgia’s top depth option.

- Christen Miller
- Xzavier McLeod
Defensive end Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins battled through a foot injury during the 2023 season and had surgery on it ahead of spring practice, so he is likely out for G-Day. Ingram-Dawkins is a projected starter for the Bulldogs along the defensive line.
Redshirt freshman Xzavier McLeod, a South Carolina transfer, is a defensive end/tackle and is expected to provide depth behind Christen Miller, who has been limited this spring (knee).

- Warren Brinson
- Jordan Hall
Defensive tackle Warren Brinson was Georgia’s highest-graded defensive lineman in 2023. Sophom*ore Jordan Hall should see a significant amount of snaps this fall and would start on most college football teams.

- Mykel Williams
- Chaz Chambliss
- Damon Wilson
- Gabe Harris
Mykel Williams is transitioning to outside linebacker this offseason, which should boost Georgia’s pass rush. Georgia’s second-best pass rusher is probably Jalon Walker, who for depth chart purposes is an inside linebacker, but let’s be honest he is most effective as an edge rusher.
Chaz Chambliss is a solid run defender for the Dawgs. Damon Wilson has loads of potential and will be a fun player to watch in UGA’s spring game. Gabe Harris played in 11 games as a true freshman and brings a pass rushing punch to the Bulldogs.

- Raylen Wilson
- Troy Bowles
The Georgia’s top inside linebacker, Smael Mondon, is out for spring with a foot injury. Sophom*ore Raylen Wilson saw action down the stretch last season with Jamon Dumas-Johnson hurt. Sophom*ore Troy Bowles is an interesting player to watch this spring. Bowles, the son of NFL head coach Todd Bowles, has been in the Georgia system for almost a year now and has an immense amount of potential.

- C.J. Allen
- Jalon Walker
Sophom*ore C.J. Allen stood out immediately as a true freshman. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker has an excellent frame and started five games as a true freshman, recording 40 total tackles. The versatile Jalon Walker is his primary back-up.

- Daylen Everrette
- Julian Humphrey
- Daniel Harris
- Ellis Robinson
Georgia lost Kamari Lassiter to the NFL draft and AJ Harris to the transfer portal this offseason. The Dawgs still have a very talented outside cornerback group. Everette played in all 14 games last season as a starter and is expected to be Georgia’s top cover man this year.
Julian Humphrey is an excellent athlete and will likely split snaps with Daniel Harris starting on the outside opposite of Everette. Early enrollee Ellis Robinson should not be slept on. The former five-star recruit could see significant snaps as a true freshman.
Slot cornerback (STAR)
Online Athens/Joshua L Jones
- Joenel Aguero
- Kyron Jones
- David Daniel-Sisavahn
Joenel Aguero brings an element of physicality to the Georgia defense. Who is his back-up? Determining his back-up is one of the toughest positions to decide on the Georgia defensive depth chart. Daniel-Sisavanh would be out No. 2 STAR, but with Malaki Starks hurt this spring, Georgia’s safeties room thin and we expect Daniel-Sisavanh to compete for the starting role opposite Starks. Redshirt freshman Kyron Jones is our No. 2 STAR.
Safety
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
- David Daniel-Sisavahn
- Dan Jackson
- JaCorey Thomas
- Jake Pope
- KJ Bolden
We have David Daniel-Sisavahn and Dan Jackson starting at safety for the Dawgs. JaCorey Thomas should be in the mix for a starting role as well this spring. Georgia’s best safety, Malaki Starks, is limited this spring after undergoing shoulder surgery, but is expected to be a preseason All-American at safety. He won’t play in G-Day.
Alabama transfer Jake Pope has experience and will be a top special teams player for Georgia. He actually had a big spring game for the Crimson Tide in 2023. KJ Bolden, a five-star recruit, is an early enrollee that could see action at safety or STAR.
