Of course is showing blank for every theater. Remember that they were not putting peak pricing from Monday till Wednesday, so a lot of people were going to use their card tonight to catch up what they couldn't during the weekend, especially those who cancelled their membership like myself who have nothing to lose and want to us the remaining days this sh*tty service has left.

I wonder if it's working currently on the west coast also, or if they'll have to wait three more hours until it starts working again? 😲

I live in Northern California and it seems to be working at around 7:58PM (PST).

Outside Mission Impossible: Fallout being greyed out at all theaters, I noticed what was happening on Sunday, is happening again.

Not all films are available in the App (which I know was addressed in a recent Press Release). Like my experience on Sunday, some local theaters that screen anywhere from 8-15 films only have 1-4 films on the App.

Trying to decide if I should see whatever films that are left that MoviePass has available, or just cancel my Membership soon.

I still want to see The Equalizer 2, Leave No Trace, Sorry To Bother You and Three Identical Strangers.

If MoviePass can provide me with that in the next 1-2 weeks, I can safely say I'll be alright.

Old, but ...

Moviepass CEO: We actually want you to go to the movies a lot

https://www.hmny.com/in-the-news/201...e-movies-a-lot

MoviePass customer: We would like to see movies a lot. Hell, we’d be happy to see movies a little ... or at all.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

If I can't see MI: Fallout this week, then I am out. I counted up that I have seen 30 movies since I got my cards. Maybe a couple more before they stopped letting you see the same move twice.

So I feel I got my money's worth but I am definitely going to sign up for the AMC plan. I would feel kinda guilty going back to Costco asking for a refund though. Not sure if I can go through with that.

I've already read that Christopher Robin and The Meg are going to be subject to the same restrictions as Mission Impossible:Fallout....

Moviepass, the only service where we encourage to not use our service. You can see any movie any time, oh except for the movies most people want to see.

Yeah, I see no possible way they can stay in business now.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I went ahead and cancelled as my monthly charge date for August was approaching. I technically have another 7 days or so that I can use the service. I doubt I’ll bother. What is unfortunate is that I used to live within 4.5 miles of the nearest AMC. I just moved and now am 23 miles away. So a 9 mile round trip turns into a 46 mile round trip. Think
I’m going to hold off on joining up. Will miss seeing so many movies, but I was fed up with Moviepass’s tactics.

Check if Sinemia works at your local theatre.

Was actually able to see Mission Impossible last night. I am on travel in California and they had an e-ticket theater that let me check in. Probably the last movie that I will see with it. Looking at switching to Sinema. It was nice while it lasted.

I just checked out Sinemia and they have Marcus theaters on there in my area, just not the one that's closest to me. Oh well.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Hey, they finally said something!

https://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...0731005582/en/

MoviePass has implemented several new cost-reduction and subscription revenue increase measures:

  • Actions that have been implemented are currently cutting the monthly burn by 60%.
  • A future increase of the standard pricing plan to $14.95 per month within the next 30 days.
  • First Run Movies opening on 1,000+ Screens to be limited in their availability during the first two weeks, unless made available on a promotional basis,
  • Implementation of additional tactics to prevent abuse of the MoviePass service.

I had to laugh at this:

MoviePass subscribers are also more readily influenced by recommendations and more willing to make them, making them an invaluable audience to studios and distributors. The National Research Group study indicates that when we recommend films, partner with studios, or promote our own movies, we currently account for 20% to 45% of the national box office.

Yeah, when you have a movie nobody is paying to see like Gotti, you're going to drive a lot of the audience with all that marketing and basically free tickets.

1000 screens seems like an awfully low threshold. So you can't see any movie that's in wide release the first few weeks, maybe more.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Stock bumped a little, looks like this is why:

MoviePass parent Helios and Matheson shares rise 14% after company announces subscription fee raise to $14.95

https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/stor...5-14B5EBDCC688

Edit: looks like fujishig beat me! :)

Another edit: stock was up to $1 ... back down to 79 cents.

So it's basically Indie-pass now. This will probably work out ok for me on my annual plan since I don't use Moviepass for major releases in the first two weeks anyways. The reserved seating makes it hard to get a good seat in the back when I can't do e-ticket. I rather wait until the crowds die down anyways.

Blocking new releases makes this pretty useless too me, so I would've cancelled anyway.

Agreed. Seems really silly for them to act like people using this for new releases is something they didn't anticipate.
